Our client just NORTH of BARRIE, ON is going through a growth phase and in need of an Environmental Technologist to join their team to support the H&S team. If you have experience in a manufacturing environment within a steel or mining industry, then read on. Your skills are needed!

The Role:

  • Develop EHS strategies and action plans, together with the Manager EHS, to ensure compliance with the EHS program as well as government regulations
  • Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy, as applicable
  • Provide environmental health and safety support to operations with a primary focus on regulatory compliance
  • Collect environmental samples including air, water, and dust particles. Prepare and maintain any related documentation for testing and tracking
  • Audit, analyze and report on environmental performance to stakeholders and regulatory bodies, as required
  • Maintain up to date WHIMIS documentation and CCOHS regulation
  • Perform impact assessments, to identify, assess and reduce environmental risks and financial implications
  • Promote and raise awareness of the impact of emerging environmental issues (legislative or best practice) on corporate, ethical and social responsibility
  • Participate in onsite MOL and MOE inspections/audits, together with the Manager EHS

Education, Experience & Training:

  • Post-graduate diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental, Health and Safety, or related field, from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years working in an Environmental Health and Safety role within a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience in a Foundry or mine processing considered an asset
  • Experience working in WSIB applications and early-and-safe-return to work programs

Expected salary: $60000 per year
