Job Description
We are looking for an experienced leader with a strong IT Business Systems background to lead operational excellence and strategy development in the Internal IT Organization. This position is a new role in a growing Internal IT group.
This role will define and own critical initiatives and operations enabling the Internal IT group to operate efficiently to help achieve Etsy’s near and long-term business goals. A successful candidate is defined by their track record and heart for applying industry-proven and emergent approaches that empower teams to collaborate and deliver value.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, Internal IT. This position can be located in our Brooklyn office. We also offer flexible workplace policies that can accommodate work-from-home candidates who are comfortable traveling to an office location 2 times per week AND we are open to remote work, aligned with Eastern Standard Time working hours.

About the Role
In this role you will:
- Partner with the Senior Director of Engineering, Internal IT to determine the path forward for Internal IT Business Systems at Etsy, and build the processes and tooling to support that vision
- Work closely with the IT leadership team and partners in each business unit to deliver and support IT services that lead to successful business outcomes
- Define methods and metrics for measuring the success of the Internal IT Business Systems initiatives and day to day efforts, and communicate those metrics with senior leadership
- Provide structure to this large, complex space, and identify iterative steps that add new value early and often for end users, while still heading towards a long term vision
- Design and operate the systems, processes, artifacts and roles that enable strategy development, decision-making, and execution on predictable cadences for the Business Systems area of the Internal IT group
- Proactively and iteratively evolve the Business System area of the Internal IT group’s ongoing operations so that they are people-first and highly effective
- Drive a governance model which clarifies roles, responsibilities, decision-making, and deliverables across Business System workstreams
- Ensure proactive resource prioritization, roadblock removal and/or dependency tracking to enable swift delivery
- Zooming in and out, to understand and connect goals between Internal IT, partner teams, and stakeholders at Etsy and Etsy’s subsidiaries, to drive stronger impact and alignment for the business
- Build credibility and establish rapport with people at multiple levels, from C-Suite to squad
- Support Internal IT communications including important org-wide emails, metrics reports, presentations, and maintain the platforms and channels where this information is shared
- Partner with the Strategic Finance team to drive the quarterly operating plan and ongoing budgeting process for the Business Systems area of Internal IT
- Collaborate with the Finance, People and Talent teams to prioritize headcount and recruiting for the Business Systems area of Internal IT

Qualifications
About You
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- 5-10 years of demonstrated experience working in a public company environment in IT Business Systems management
- Work independently to define and contain complex problems, prioritize effectively, and deliver quickly
- Solid track record of inspiring change that’s resulted in increased impact and efficiency for your customers
- Experience crafting and driving agile processes which enable smooth execution, continuous improvement, and minimal waste
- Outstanding partner management, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical global, cross-functional groups
- Experience working across multiple time zones and cultures, in a scaled business
- High attention to detail and ability to distill complex ideas into clear guidance and communications
- Ability to maintain order, focus and calm in times of ambiguity and changing priorities
- Able to influence outcomes and people without reporting lines
- Have a positive, roll-up-your-sleeves and get the work done approach
- Experience leading complex internal change initiatives
- Experience working in a technology-heavy role, including crafting the vision and strategy for platforms or services
- The ability to understand the needs of internal customers (internal Etsy engineers and analysts) to spot common trends and shared needs
- Success sharing timelines, trade-offs, and risks with a broad and senior leadership group
- A passion for new and emerging IT technologies, and an ear to industry trends
- A trust in and commitment to Etsy’s vision, mission and values.
