The Dean is responsible for developing a leadership position and strategic plan for implementing and evaluating the academic programs and curriculum in the School of Nursing in collaboration with the faculty, staff, and respective committees, to position the School as a progressive academic center focused on student success and faculty scholarship.

Key Job Elements:

Administrative Responsibilities: 80% of job requirement

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the School of Nursing.
  • Direct fiscal and personnel management.
  • Support students in a respectful, friendly manner to address issues and concerns.
  • Serve as a resource and support for faculty by providing ongoing mentorship and evaluation.
  • Provide leadership in faculty and departmental meetings to develop, evaluate, and revise nursing curriculum and policies to achieve end-of-program student learning outcomes and program outcomes.
  • Develop and implement the systematic plan of evaluation (SPE) using appropriate data, and implement data-driven revisions of courses and the overall program.
  • Support student recruitment and retention activities.
  • Serve on departmental and college-wide committees.
  • Represent the College positively in interactions with academic and professional organizations on the local, state, and national levels.
  • Participate in all official Monroe College functions as determined by the President and Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.

Faculty Responsibilities: 20% of full equivalent load

  • Teaching – Teach one class each semester and provide classroom instruction consistent with the mission of the College and School of Nursing.
  • Advisement – serve as academic advisor to students in accordance with the School of Nursing policies.
  • Professional Development and Scholarship – engage in continuing education activities to maintain excellence and expertise in the discipline of nursing and teaching/learning strategies.

  • Proven ability to engage, assist, and motivate students.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to act as a catalyst in program development to achieve end-of-program student learning outcomes and program outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to use technology effectively to communicate with students and to enhance student learning.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Graduate preparation in nursing at either the master’s or doctoral level.
  • Teaching full-time in professional nursing; minimum five (5) years.
  • Nursing patient care experience; minimum five (5) years.
  • Administrative experience or demonstrated progressive management experience.

Education (preferred):

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field.

License:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in New York State.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $200,000.00 – $210,000.00 per year
