Reporting to the Director, Clinical Informatics, the Healthcare Analyst meets the information, reporting, and analytic needs required to drive the performance priorities for OrthoNet, a division of Optum. They must have prior healthcare data analysis and medical claims experience.
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within United States as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyze healthcare authorization and claims data to assess trends, evaluate potential operational and clinical opportunities, measure ongoing performance vs. target, identify additional expansion opportunities, etc.
- Design and implement reporting systems, analytical processes, and tools to support operational and clinical performance, key benchmarks as well as all client-based utilization and cost performance results
- Adopt and apply relevant project management tools / SDLC experience as required
- Maintain high standards of data integrity and quality throughout the department’s data collection-to-reporting pipeline, support in implementation of new methodology, tools, and processes
- Support ad hoc analytic requests, providing accurate and timely data, analysis, and insightful interpretations
- Identify opportunities to improve and enhance analyses and information provided to customers

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (ideally in a quantitative, finance, technical or health care analytics related discipline)
- 2+ years of work experience in a healthcare insurance related field
- Hands-on experience with handling and analyzing large data sets (over 1 million records) of healthcare claims data and other related healthcare industry benchmarks for utilization and cost drivers
- Experience with clinical analysis in medical economics/informatics areas within a managed care environment a plus, (e.g., diagnostic case-mix, episode of care grouping and analysis, provider profiling and/or site-of-service analyses, etc.)
- Proven analytical skills particularly with comprehensive, multi-level drill-down assessment of key utilization and financial performance measures by product, procedure, and other key healthcare business dimensions
- Solid computing skills, particularly with relational database programming, including SQL Server, MS Access etc. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and troubleshooting ability with high level of accuracy
- If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $53,300 to $95,100.
