Job Description:
The Business & Systems Consultant has deep knowledge of a wide variety of business concepts, practices, and procedures as they relate to IT and general operations; they rely on their expertise, experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and to perform a variety of tasks. The Business Systems Consultant conducts needs analysis, writes user stories, collaborates with others for system design; and supports teams/squads to increase productivity and reduce costs.
What will you do?
- Delivery of BSA project artefacts, such as functional and non-functional requirements, Visio diagrams, user stories, gap analysis, etc.
- Leads and attends meetings with both business partners and project team members, presenting findings and holding review sessions, collaborating with project team including other BSAs and Leads.
- Facilitates the identification of business and IT process improvements, system design, testing and implementation of solutions
- Analyzes and documents how systems, processes, procedures and clients will be impacted by future development
- Works with the Project Manager/Product Owner to conduct analysis on business requests with a focus on the links between processes and systems throughout the organization
- Creates and/or provides input into internal and external communications and user documentation
- Supports testing with a focus on end to end validation
What you need to succeed:
Domain Expertise
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience as a Business Systems Consultant including proficiency with various requirements gathering techniques
- Skilled at finding hidden requirements, edge cases, and a “desire to break” attitude
- Knowledge or familiarity of overall financial services industry, actuarial science, or insurance domain an asset
- Deep knowledge of relevant business, processes, systems and capabilities
- Good understanding of privacy, compliance, control and security requirements
- Skilled in test execution and understanding the outcomes
Agile Experience
- Experienced in or excited to learn Agile way of working

- Comfortable with data requirements and related data activities
- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate both complex business and technical concepts and align organization on decisions

- Open to learning new ideas outside scope or knowledge skillset
- Can act in an advisory capacity as well as coach/mentor Business Analysts
Must be able to obtain Reliability Status through the Government of Canada before a start date can be confirmed (includes a background check with fingerprinting by the RCMP.
Occasional travel between Sun Life locations in Canada may be required

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
