About the role:
In this role you will provide experience and specialization in highly technical aspects of systems hardware/software/resilience. You will be a technical resource to Information Technology as a whole and will be responsible for participating in the following areas of the Business Resilience Program, including risk assessments, business impact analyses, dependency analysis, plan creation, strategy selection, and documentation. Other aspects of the role will also consist of planning, conduct, and debrief regular mock exercises to test the adequacy of existing plans and strategies, updating procedures and plans regularly. Also, as a technical resource to Information Technology, supporting and maintaining the day-to-day operations of Unix/AIX on Power and Window servers and enterprise class hardware.
Responsibilities include:
Planning, Risk Assessments and Documentation
- Assist in creating, maintaining, and executing business impact assessments, planning, and coordinating exercises.
- Provide input with risk management analysis and assist with the creation of the business resilience, contingency, and disaster recovery plans.
- Assist in coordinating with site/business functions to perform business resilience program activities such as Business Impact Analysis to identify and document recovery requirements for critical business functions/processes.
Resiliency/Continuity Plan
- Provide input in developing, maintaining business resilience documentation, including but not limited to policies, standards, governance model, program procedures, and tools and templates.
- Work cross functionally with team members of Information Security, IT Infrastructure, and Engineering teams to coordinate and assist in exercises, identify, and prioritize remediation, and track completion.
- Train employees on the business recovery plan to ensure that everyone understands what is expected if a disaster occurs.
Operational Tasks
- Working knowledge of configuring and supporting virtual infrastructure environments: AIX and Linux on IBM Power, VMware ESXi.
- Understanding of IBM PowerVM and VIOS architecture, and VMWare ESXi.
- Knowledge of Backup environments such as Veritas NetBackup, and Site Replication and Recovery (Zerto, Veritas Resilience Platform) tools.
Education, training and experience:
- Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a University Degree or Community College Diploma in Computer Science.
- At least 3 years of experience in a Business Resilience/Disaster Recovery role.
- Experience in a Technical role involving UNIX/Windows server administration.
- Experience in developing and maintaining formal business resiliency plans.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Designing and delivering business resilience exercises.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on teamwork.
- Must be able to work independently and take initiative to identify, track, and resolve issues.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of IT architecture, hardware devices, terminology and staying up to date of technological advancements.
