The intent of this advertisement is to establishing a pool of partially qualified and qualified candidates that may be used to staff similar positions on a determinate or indeterminate status within NSERC or SSHRC, following the results of the competition.
The pool could be used to offer assignments, deployments, secondments, or Interchange Canada Program opportunities.
Candidates must meet the essential qualifications (education and experience) to be appointed to the position.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of education, either a diploma or an official transcript.
A written examination and an interview may be administered.

Job Summary
Provide business intelligence software solutions to the Research Councils and to the Information and Innovation Solutions Division (IISD) by participating in the requirements gathering, analysis, design, development and implementation of flexible reporting solutions that satisfy the informational requirements of both the internal and external client communities.
Statement of Qualifications
Education
Successful completion of two (2) years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology or in a field of study relevant to the position being staffed, or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.
Degree equivalency
Experience
Experience in using complex relational databases;
Experience managing deliverables within a multidisciplinary teams;
Experience in the field of Business Intelligence, providing operational/strategic reporting solutions and maintaining semantic layers considered an asset;
Experience in participating in the administration of a Business Intelligence system considered an asset.
Knowledge
Knowledge of current and emerging trends related to Business Intelligence;
Knowledge of Business Intelligence Reporting platforms such as SAP Business Objects, SQL Server Reporting Services and Cognos BI;
Knowledge of database management systems such as SQL Server, Sybase and Oracle;
Strong knowledge of SQL data definition language (DDL) and data manipulation language (DML);
Knowledge of SQL performance tuning;
Knowledge of project management practices and principles;
Knowledge of computer science theories, engineering methods and principles, in order design, develop, test, and, implement internal and/or externally focused Business Intelligence solutions utilizing information technology.

Ability to handle pressure and to respond to multiple demands at one time;
Ability to work alone or unsupervised when necessary and manage priorities effectively;
Ability to gather user requirements and translate business needs into analytics/reporting requirements;
Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities;
Ability to effectively communicate orally an in writing.
