Associate Director of Care, Senior’s Health Centre
In this position you will be accountable to the Director of Care for the day to day management of the nursing department and resident care services. You will be working as part of an interdisciplinary team, through effective management of all resources in the nursing envelope and development a strong nursing team, the ADOC will ensure the delivery of optimal care and service, based on legislative requirements. You are required to perform duties in a manner consistent with NYGH core values to ensure resident safety, and demonstrate customer service excellence. You are highly organized, detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and are able to demonstrate understanding of health service integration. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.
On a practical level, you will
- Co-ordinate, direct and monitor the effectiveness of all operational activities within the nursing home.
- Contribute to operational plans for the effective operation of the nursing department.
- Delegate responsibility to nursing staff based on clearly defined lines of authority and communication.
- Participate in an effective quality and risk management system to ensure legislative regulations and standards are met.
- Participate in strategic planning and accreditation activities.
- Lead and participate in committees according to their terms of reference and areas of responsibility (Medication Management, Infection Control, Education etc..)
- Participate in corporate and external committees as requested.
- Follow all corporate policies and procedures; contribute to the development of site specific nursing policies as indicated.
- Focus on residents first and understand this approach to LTC. Health Quality Indicators and all CIHI province known data in order to compare SHC data.
Qualifications
- Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Bachelor of Nursing Science or equivalent post diploma education preferred.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in Long Term Care or equivalent.
- Ability to make sound clinical skills and knowledge of gerontological nursing practice.
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft products, email, internet use and computerized documentation.
- Knowledge of funding processed and the funding indicators.
- Knowledge of MOHLTC regulations.
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset
