Position Purpose

Provides leadership in the planning, implementation, and management of Information Technology activities, in alignment with the strategic and operational priorities of the Faculty of Engineering. Facilitates the planning and execution of business changes and develops long-range plans designed to maintain a cost-effective and valued IT portfolio. Proactively recommends course of action to prevent or mitigate problems and to maintain high performance service levels for the user community.

Essential Qualifications

Solid theoretical and practical knowledge of Information Technology, normally acquired through a university education in computer science, systems science, Management Information Systems or a related field;
Minimum of 10 years’ experience and in-depth knowledge in applications development, the application development lifecycle, information technology platforms, tools and languages;
Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing an IT team with experience managing and/or directing applications and infrastructure services;
Experience in operational and project performance evaluation;
Experience in the management of technology of large systems;
Experience and in-depth knowledge of project management methodology and framework;
Experience and knowledge of process re-engineering; preference to experience with Lean Six Sigma methodology;
Experience in negotiating and managing Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Operating Level Agreements (OLA) with both external and internal service and solution providers;
Experience and in-depth knowledge of the higher education institutions business processes will be considered an asset;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact positively with business and IT staff at all levels of the organization;
Demonstrated ability to work positively and productively with other teams and constituents by using influence and diplomacy;
Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve internal and external partner issues;
ITIL certification (IT Information Library)
Fluently bilingual, French and English – written and spoken.
