Public Works – Waste Management
One (1) Part Time Contract, Duration: 13 Months
Reporting to the Team Lead, Weighscale Operations you will be responsible for the daily operations, including the start up and shut down of the weighscale, data processing equipment, cash handling and balancing.
Responsibilities:
- Weigh vehicle contents and direct customers to the appropriate location for disposal
- Adhere to pertinent Regional policies and regulations
- Deal with customer inquiries and incoming telephone calls
- Make appropriate financial transactions
- Create, maintain and distribute end of day reports through proper opening and closing procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a secondary school diploma combined with one (1) year related experience
- Strong customer service focus
- Interpersonal skills to resolve and respond to internal and external clients
- Cash handling experience
- Intermediate knowledge of computer equipment required
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Proven organization skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload effectively
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Basic bookkeeping, mathematical and computer skills
- Valid class “G” Ontario License and daily access to a vehicle

Location: Various locations across the Community Recycling Centres in the Region of Peel. We’ve put measures in place to protect the health, safety and wellness of our employees.
Hours: 17.5 hours per week. This position is required to work Friday & Saturday or Saturday & Sunday. Shifts are 8:00am – 5:15pm. During the months of May to October additional hours may be required.
Interview: Our recruitment process will be completed with video conference technology.

The Region of Peel reserves the right to request proof of vaccination at any time. Acceptable proof includes an Ontario Ministry of Health COVID-19 vaccine receipt which you can obtain through the Provincial portal , or other government-issued vaccine passport or certification.
The requirement to be fully vaccinated is subject to the Ontario Human Rights Code. If you are not fully vaccinated, a documented medical reason provided by a physician or registered nurse and time period for the medical reason may be accepted.
