About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-Time Project Lead to join our dynamic IT Program Delivery team, in our IT Strategy and Governance division. The work of a Project Lead is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Lifeline. In this role, you will plan, manage, and implement assigned projects according to established cost and time parameters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for all aspects of project execution on a day-to-day basis.
- Identifies and assembles the project team and provides leadership and oversight over their activities to achieve project deliverables.
- Work with the project team to develop the project plan and produces realistic estimates against which progress is monitored.
- Maintain quality standards and requirements, manage the budget, analyze risks and issues, and ensure continuous communication and reporting among stakeholders as required.
- Applies training in project management tools and techniques, and relevant business experience to manage routine or smaller projects or and/or components of major, complex projects.
- May prepare routine business cases or contribute to more complex ones.
- Provides routine reports for Business owners and other stakeholders.
- Makes decisions impacting specific project deliverables, costs, and timelines, within the assigned project scope.
- Analyzes moderately complex problems, interprets business needs, and develops integrated, innovative solutions, using a logical process to simplify and resolve issues and present options.
- Data analysis, preparing and writing standard project documents and reports, and may involve presentations and/or training.
Required skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, science or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years work experience, some of which includes working within a project management context.
- Completed training in project management such as PRINCE2, PMP, Agile Scrum Master.
- Project Management certification is an asset such as PMP or PRINCE2.
- Subject matter expertise relevant to the nature of the projects assigned.
- Experience managing new product or process introduction in a regulated environment, is an asset.
- Experience managing and implementing process change within a unionized workforce environment, is an asset.
- Experience developing and maintaining project documents and presenting in an executive setting.
- Experience in Agile teams is an asset.
- Proficiency with related software tools including Microsoft project professional, MSPO is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills in English to prepare business cases, reports, and communications.
- Soft skills required to lead and motivate others to achieve the project deliverables.
