We are looking for an accountant/analyst to assist a CPA CA in the financial accounting, reporting and financial-operational analyses for two distinct businesses (an entrepreneurial eCommerce business and a health care professional practice). This is a part-time permanent independent contractor position.

Duties/Tasks

Obtain, analyze and summarize monthly financial information from eCommerce sales platforms

Perform reconciliations of eCommerce accounts

Assist with inventory management: retrieve inventory information from fulfillment centres, analyze and track inventory by physical location and reconcile to inventory accounts

Assist with developing and monitoring financial/operational metrics to measure business profitability, and update planning tools to reflect changes to the business

Assist with preparing forecasts and financial modelling

Process supplier invoices

Assist with maintaining business accounting records

Perform various account reconciliations

Prepare support for Canadian sales tax (GST/HST/QST, provincial sales tax) and US state sales tax.

Meet ad hoc requests, and perform other related tasks and special projects

Skills and Aptitude

Problem solver, creative, can think out of the box

Detail oriented, and adept at math

Strong organizational skills, good time management, self motivator

Must be responsible, dependable, and meet regular deadlines

Easily work with variety of people and within different corporate cultures

Strong computer skills. Uses a PC computer

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel: able to analyze financial data, track business information, calculate using formulas, and present financial information using charts/dashboards

Experience with QuickBooks

Education, Experience

College degree/certificate or University degree in finance, business, or accounting/bookkeeping (either completed or in progress)

Accounting and/or analyst experience (1-3 years)

Must have taken an accounting course on financial accounting: (debits, credits, general ledger, financial statements), and have experience in maintaining general ledgers and production of financial statements

Experience in dealing with eCommerce sales platforms

Work Location

Georgetown, Ontario for in-office work

Remote work may be possible depending on nature of work conducted

A PC computer will be provided in-office but applicant needs to have own PC computer with up-to-date Microsoft Office program.

May require travel to Ottawa/Gatineau for special projects planning

May require travel to Ontario inventory production site and to Ontario and US inventory fulfillment centres to deal with inventory management

Job Type

Work as an independent contractor with each individual business for which applicant performs services

Work with and report to a CPA CA in Georgetown Ontario who maintains and manages the financial accounts of the businesses

Part-time permanent

Approximately 8-10 hours per week initially. Hours would increase as assume more duties/tasks and responsibilities. Hours may vary depending on time of year.

Pay Rate

Range $20 to $25 per hour, with rate depending on extent of experience, capabilities/proficiencies/skills-set, education etc.

Must have received two COVID-19 vaccines, with proof of such vaccination required, to work in-office with CPA CA and businesses management and staff

References relating to work experience will be required

Expected salary: $20 – 25 per hour
