About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-Time Data Analyst to join our dynamic Financial Planning and Analysis team in Ottawa. Candidates located near any major city with a Canadian Blood Services site are encouraged to apply. The work of a Data Analyst is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Lifeline. In this role, you will aim to guide Canadian Blood Services to make decisions that optimize its cost structure in a sustainable way with timely financial insight, advice, and financial leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in the development and implementation of data and analytics framework within FP&A.
- Assist in the co-ordination and maintenance of all centralized FP&A reporting disseminated to the organization and within the FP&A team.
- Support the Sr. Analyst in data gathering for complex, multi-source analysis as required by the FP&A team or the organization.
- Support the Sr. Analyst in coordination of SAP/TM1 process integration and report development, roadmaps, and change requests.
- Support the Sr. Analyst in the implementation of FP&A planning models that improve the efficiency, integration and accuracy of financial budgeting and forecasting for the organization.
- Provide guidance and support on cost center and cost element structures in SAP.
- Assist the Sr. Analyst in development, coordination, and delivery of technical FP&A processes to the team and to the business.
- Support the Sr. Analyst in building and maintaining technical knowledge of current financial management systems for the FP&A team; TM1, SAP, MS Azure Datawarehouse and Power BI.
- Performs other duties as required by manager.
Qualifications:
- College or University education in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics or comparable. A background in Mathematics. Data or Statistics would be considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in a finance setting with a heavy focus on financial analysis and planning.
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in a data and analytics capacity, preferably within a Finance team.
- Working knowledge and understanding of IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) or equivalent system is required: finding and retrieving data; building and working with reports, websheets; understanding of data flow and structures; cubes, processes, and rules.
- Understanding and experience in the use of SAP or an equivalent ERP application is required.
- Proficiency in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Controlling, Materials Management, Warehouse Management, SAP Module, or an equivalent ERP application is required.

- Ability to work in a team environment.
- A self-starter with the ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
- Ability to maintain and aptitude to develop reporting and models using IBM Planning Analytics (TM1).
- An exceptional understanding of business and financial structures.
- Ability to think systemically and anticipate interdependent impacts of change across groups, systems, and processes.
- Strong ability to present and communicate information, including technical information to a diverse audience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to exercise tact and discretion.
