This position may be filled as a two-year traineeship.
Duties Description This position may be in-person, remote, or partially remote and partially in-person however this is subject to change.
- The Business System Analyst 1 in the Personal Income Tax Bureau will be part of a program development team that is involved with business requirement definition, system development support, testing and analysis for a specific tax type or multiple tax types in the Processing Division.
The Business Systems Analyst 1 will perform the following essential functions:
- Identify deficiencies and enhancement opportunities to support/improve existing systems.
- Review tax form changes, system changes and policy directives to determine impact on operations and procedures. Report findings to unit management.
- Create or update documents to reflect current or “as-is” state of business processes and functions.
- Support work to define, develop, and document “to-be” businesses processes and functions.
- Gather and document project requirements, decisions, business rules, test scenarios, and test results.
- Perform research. Organize and analyze information and data from various sources. Candidate should have expertise with Excel. Familiarity with Pivot tables and other data analysis tools in Excel preferred.
- Facilitate and coordinate with ITS staff, operations staff and, when necessary, development staff on other teams.
- Identify, evaluate, and escalate issues and risks in a timely manner to management along with potential options for solution/resolution.
- Develop training materials and procedure manuals for end users.
- Support test planning activities, define test scenarios, develop test cases/data, and execute test conditions.
- Identify and track all defects through to resolution.
- Use various other software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Visio, and ALM (Micro Focus Application Lifecycle Management).
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers.
- Adhere to the Department’s time and attendance rules and regulations.
