Your opportunity:
The Practicum Placement and Professional Development Officer is an integral member of the Clinical Education Office team at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing. Under the direction of the Director, Clinical Education, the incumbent works to enhance practicum placement and related processes for students.
The incumbent will conduct outreach to potential practicum sites/preceptors/clinical instructors, support the hiring of clinical instructors,schedule students to appropriate practicum placements, support students in preparing for practicum placements, monitor the quality of practicum placements/preceptors/clinical instructors and implement, organize, and oversee practicum evaluation using learning management software.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing plans that support the development of work-integrated learning opportunities for students
- Evaluating and recommendingappropriate work-integrated learning opportunities for students
- Advising and coaching students on the selection of appropriate work-integrated learning opportunities
- Tracking progress of student work-integrated experience applications, interviews and recruitment
- Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
- Maintaining information on digital platforms and/or printed materials
- Developing plans that support recruitment strategies.
- Fostering and maintaining positive relations with stakeholders to support student placement activities
Essential Qualifications:
- Masters degree or acceptable combination of equivalentexperience; RN (Registered Nurse) also required.
- Minimum five years directly related experience in Nursing.
- Demonstrated experience developing community networks and partnerships.
- Experience in the Nursing sector developing strategic alliances is essential.
- Experience planning and coordinating events, meetings and facilitating workshops.
- Familiarity with the educational and field aspects within nursing and healthcare.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to create and maintain databases.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with students, faculty, administrators, alumni and external contracts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of stakeholders
- Solid understanding of the nursing landscape in Canada and the career opportunities and organizations available to graduates
