Job Summary
Plan, research, develop and coordinate the implementation of construction and renovation projects at various City facilities. Prepare specifications and provide contract administration and project management services, solicit and evaluate quotations from contractors and provide effective liaison between clients, contractors and consultants. Monitor contractor performance and resolve deficiencies or disputes, develop project design and implementation schedules, monitor and control project commitments and expenditures, maintain comprehensive project file documentation.
Due to Covid-19, most of our offices are currently closed to protect the health and safety of our employees, clients and community. As such, this position will be required to work remotely for an undetermined period. Once our offices re-open you will report to 300 City Centre Drive, Mississauga.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Research and develop project charter, come up with solutions to resolve issues/problems and establish schedule.
- Provide direction to stakeholders and user groups and consultants during design, development, communication stages, including presentations, facilitate meetings, etc.
- Coordinate delivery of services from different areas of expertise.
- Act as liaison between clients, contractors and consultants to avoid conflicts.
- Solicit, evaluate and award quotations from contractors and consultants.
- Ensure all legislated service standard requirements are maintained throughout project.
- Site inspections to assess and document specifics of request and prioritize.
- Audit review and site inspections on a regular basis to track any deviation from specifications.
- Review and approve reports provided by consultants.
- Maintain accurate records of all legal documents, payments, change orders and authorizations for release of payments.
- Provide technical guidance, implement training for delivery of related project, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Skills and Qualifications
- Post-secondary Technician/Technologist diploma in Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical technology or relevant discipline.
- Certified technologist preferred, PMP and/or LEED designations an asset.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in design and project management.
- Microsoft Office software.
- May require site visits involving climbing ladders, scaffolding, some light lifting of supplies/materials. Prolonged exposure to computer keyboards and screens.
- Primarily office environment, site visits.
