About the Position:

This is a full-time Support Staff bargaining unit position reporting to the Associate Registrar, working 35 hours per week at an hourly rate of $32.64.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Supports student access and success by advising students on all areas related to Enrolment Services, including: Admissions, Financial Aid, Tuition & Fees, Registration, Transfer Credits, Scheduling, and Graduation;
  • Provides specialized student record services including assessing qualifications of prospective students, making admission decisions based on admission rules, and maintenance of Student Information System (SIS) records;
  • Provides in-depth advice on financial assistance programs and policies to students, parents/partners and other third parties;
  • Administers academic and financial policies by processing all documentation pertaining to registration, fee payments, course and program changes, withdrawals, refunds and grades;
  • Conducts credential audits to ensure eligibility for progression and graduation;
  • Reviews and assesses transcripts in order to determine admission status;
  • Assists in the facilitation, coordination and implementation of services that support the ability of students to move from registration to graduation for domestic and international students;
  • Assesses student progress in programs from term to term based on academic standing policies and established requisites; identifies trends or variations in enrolment patterns;
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Three-year post-secondary Business Administration or Community/Social Services diploma is required;
  • Three years of work experience in a position that advises clients on complex and specialized information, preferably in an educational environment;
  • Financial Aid experience preferred;
  • Experience with Colleague, WebAdvisor and myLambton or similar platforms is required;
  • Active listener with the ability to demonstrate empathy;
  • Customer service focused with a desire to assist students with all their enrolment needs; flexibility in resolving issues;
  • A collaborative team player who takes personal accountability to deliver on what is expected in your role and you strive for excellence every day;
  • Comfortable working in a digital environment and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience;
  • You think broadly, celebrate diversity of thought, and respect the uniqueness of individuals;
  • Must be able to identify, research and remedy discrepancies;
  • Strong computer skills and demonstrated ability with applications developing and using spreadsheets, word processing, email, internet applications and complex financial/student database systems;
  • Ability to be resourceful, self-directed and an independent analytical thinker with excellent problem solving skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, in order to clearly and credibly explain policies/procedures/guidelines to clients/students;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to handle confidential and sensitive material with tact and diplomacy, exercise discretion and good judgement at all times.
