Position Overview
We are currently looking for Manager, People Health to join our Better Together Team! In this role you will be accountable for:
- Building programing that supports the body, mind and spirit of our HHR (Health Human Resources) through occupational health and safety programs, disease prevention and clinical care;
- Supporting the People team to drive the strategic priorities of THP and support the Strategic Plan;
- Leading and supporting People Safety and Support with a focus on Occupational Health;
- Building a healthy, respectful and safe environment for all individuals at THP;
- Ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Public Hospitals Act, Ontario Health Association Guidelines, Employment Standards Act, 2000, Ontario Human Rights Code, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and all other relevant legislation;
- Building strong partnerships to support occupational health initiatives with a wide range of internal and external clients and stakeholders including but not limited to infection, prevention and control, public health, ministry of labour, joint health and safety committee and our union partners;
- Supporting occupational health nurses to provide health, safety and disease prevention by developing, implementing and monitoring occupational health and safety programs, disease prevention and clinical care. This includes, but is not limited to, managing preplacement, surveillance management, absenteeism, disease prevention, infectious disease and outbreak management, immunization and education.
- Supporting best practice, continuous learning, critical thinking and clinical judgement and reflection practices consistent with professional practice guidelines;
- Developing strong programs to support short term absences with a focus on improving the people experience and stabilizing THP workforce;
- Providing leadership and guidance to all individuals at THP on all key matters and operational challenges related to occupational health within THP;
- Tracking and analysing occupational health indicators and trends to support the identification of performance, risks, hazards and mitigation strategies;
- Monitoring trends, regulations and technologies that can improve occupational health at THP;
- Modelling effective change management sponsorship, influence and principles for successful and sustainable integration and culture adoption;
- Providing strong leadership and effective mentorship, coaching and guidance to the team;
- Managing all aspects of people management including but not limited to recruitment, compensation, succession management, performance management, talent and leadership development.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing; RN in good standing with the CNO;
- Member of OOHNA preferred;
- Minimum of 7 years of working experience in healthcare or public sector work environment preferred;
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience preferred;
- Broad understanding of occupational health principles and legislation;
- Strong people leadership capabilities with effective change management experience and demonstrated ability to lead and influence cultural and organizational transformation;
- Demonstrated ability to build strong teams that are service focused;
- Solid track record of establishing credibility and building relationships at all levels and providing pro-active and responsive solutions;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage stressful situations with compassion and integrity;
- Experience challenging the status quo and utilizing innovative thinking and demonstrated analytical problem solving skills;
- Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of predicting occupational health, safety and wellbeing needs to support a safe, healthy and respectful environment for all;
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislations: Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights, Employment Standards Act, Public Hospitals Act, Healthcare Consent Act, Privacy Legislation and Infection Control standards.
