Job description: Randstad’s Healthcare Clinical & Management Division is currently supporting a search for an Ophthalmic or Optometric Patient Service Technician (ideally with experience as a Refractive Consultant or Surgical Counsellor) for a private Ambulatory Surgical Centre in Toronto. This member of the vision-correction surgical team will be a main point of contact for clients of the clinic who are seeking information about the services and surgeries available. They will remain the main point of contact from consultation through post-op care. This role requires specialized education and experience in ophthalmology or optometry to support the surgery consultation process. This Patient Service Technician will also support scheduling procedures, discuss confidential matters including those relating to payment for procedures and obtaining consent as required and will also complete some ophthalmic diagnostic testing and leverage skills (i.e. completing patient work-ups, corneal topography, OCT, A-Scan, Visual Fields, IOP, Lenstar and iDesign)

Responsibilities
As an Ophthalmic Patient Services Technician in this private setting in Toronto, you will primarily focus on supporting patient care as an integral part of the customer service and engagement team – this is a role that primarily involves computer work and telephone consultations, as well as some hands-on testing and using technical skills within a clinic setting. There is a very strong surgical and nursing team in this modern and well-established private clinic setting. Refractive Consultants, Surgical Counsellors, Ophthalmic Technicians, Optometric Technicians and Opticians may all be considered for this or other opportunities with this growing clinic so feel free to submit your resume by way of this posting if this area of vision correction surgery is of keen interest to you and you have related experience and education.
Qualifications
– 1 or more years of experience in an Ophthalmic Technician, Optometric Technician, Refractive Consultant or Surgical Counsellor s required
– Formal, related education is required
– Strong written verbal and computer skills are required; attention to detail and strong organizational skills are a must
– Positive outlook with a strong work ethic required
– Deadline-oriented and strong prioritization skills a must
– Able to work daytime hours with a start time as early as 7:00 am (public clinic hours are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm)
