University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Senior Disability Case Coordinator in our Occupational Health & Safety Department.

As an integral member of the Occupational Health and Safety team, the Senior Disability Case Coordinator employs the principles of Disability Management to actively manage and ensure employees with complex needs are provided with the appropriate modified work to support an effective, early and safe return to work. The principal responsibilities include: Reviewing medical documentation, communicating effectively with treating physicians and independent specialists to ensure modified work programs align with the employees medical needs; working closely with Management, Human and Labour Relations and unions to support successful accommodation and return to work plans; ensuring compliance with legislative requirements related to accommodation. The Senior Disability Case Coordinator is responsible for providing support and direction to the Disability Case Coordinators. Additional responsibilities include performing cross-functional duties to support the overall operation of the Occupational Health and Safety Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages actively all absences due to complex illness or injury
  • Manages the complex short and long term return to work process, advising management and union on appropriate job placement
  • Remains proactive to ensure the Hospital meets legislative requirements in the interest of a safe and healthy work environment
  • Performs communication and administrative responsibilities such as maintaining concise records and confidentiality, maintaining and regularly reporting all-inclusive case activity and return to work statistics
  • Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention’s of the Act, in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of actively enrolled in attaining credentials in the field of Disability Management, Nursing, Occupational Health or other health related studies such as Counselling Psychology, Physiotherapy and/or Occupational Therapy
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the field of Disability Management
