The Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI) provides leadership in teaching and learning at the University of Toronto and serves as the University’s central teaching hub. In a dynamic and highly collaborative environment, CTSI provides support for pedagogy and pedagogy-driven instructional technology for all teaching staff and teaching assistants across the University’s campuses and divisions. Driven by the latest advancements in higher education practices and informed by emerging research in post-secondary teaching and learning, all CTSI staff work directly with faculty, graduate students, departments and divisions and in partnership with a range of University offices to enhance teaching and learning across the institution. CTSI’s course evaluations team is responsible for managing and supporting the University’s course evaluation system including the design of surveys, technical operation and support of the system, and statistical analysis and reporting of results. The course evaluations team is also involved in CTSI’s broader work in the areas of educational development, learning analytics, and the research on teaching (e.g., the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning).
Your opportunity:
The Course Evaluation Information Analyst is responsible for working in collaboration with the Course Evaluations team at CTSI to develop and support data related processes. The Course Evaluation Information Analyst will support data management (e.g., data flow) for the operation of the system, as well as data wrangling related to reporting and analysis work and will contribute to ongoing quality improvement and evaluation, primarily through designing data processes, pipelines, queries, dashboards, and analytics for a range of users and stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing and developing program scripts to extract, reformat and analyze datasets and data flow in SQL, Python, and/or R.
- Producing complex statistical information using software such as SQL, Python, and/or R.
- Creatingand producing visual images for scientific data and dashboards/research reports using Tableau, R, and/or Python.
- Serving as a resource on specific issues to a group of specialists within the course evaluations team regarding efficient and best practice methods for data flow and management (e.g., APIs, SQL scripts), and wrangling to operate and report on course evaluations
- Training end-users on procedures and the use of supported IT systems for operation and reporting
- Researching, analyzing and recommending potential changes to system features
- Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders
- Developing and implementing database testing plans, scenarios and environments
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis on databasing, data management, wrangling, visualization, and analysis or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum (5) five years’ relevant experience including designing data processes, flows, wrangling, visualization, & analysis, preferably within a higher education setting, or related public sector environment.
- Experience training and acting as a resource to team members and users on data processes
- Experience working in a collaborative team-based environment
- Strong technical skills; advanced understanding of databases, data management, visualization, and analysis.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of datamanagement/wrangling/analysis/visualization applications such as SQL, Python, R and/or Tableau. Intermediate knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong interaction skills; oral and written communication skills to develop meaningful visualisations and to explain complex statistical analyses to decision makers and other stakeholders, probe for information to establish needs and respond to data requests.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 13 — $74,781 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $95,634. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
