Job Description
IBI Group’s Intelligence systems group understands that managing traffic logistics is extremely challenging. We are developing technical solutions for our clients to make our cities smarter and our lives better. Combining data and complex algorithms, with an intuitive user interface, our team’s goal is to keep cities moving around the world.
Working with high-profile clients across the globe, you’ll lead front-end development across a host of web and mobile applications. You’ll work with a growing, talented team, enjoying a startup-like environment where your voice is heard and your experience is valued. With your strong mentorship and leadership skills, you’ll help our developers grow their frontend abilities to deliver great user experiences. You’ll have a chance to work with some great clients and developers in an agile environment to develop innovative solutions. You’ll be involved in leading the entire front-end development process, from discovery to requirements, and implementation. The ideal candidate will have experience and interest in leading a small team in front-end development and have strong hands-on experience with javascript development. You’ll be responsible for keeping your knowledge up-to-date with the latest front-end technologies and trends to deliver cutting edge UI to our clients.

Most of the things you’ll work on
- Lead the implementation of clean and responsive front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) code
- Work with other like-minded high performers within an Agile environment
- Work with Product Managers to refine requirements and scope
- Occasionally assist with the investigation and resolution of support issues
- Mentor and lead our front end teams to apply best practices
- Use your deep understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues to find ways to work around them
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and culture
- Opportunity to contribute to products and framework, as well as drive the roadmap of what products should do
Qualifications
You’ll need to have:
- Minimum 6+ years of experience working as a Front-End Developer
- Strong experience with modern web development standards and hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
- Strong Knowledge of SASS, TypeScript, JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks like Knockout, jQuery, etc.
- Experience creating responsive/mobile-first designs, web standards
- Some UI/UX knowledge including best practices and intuitive design is preferred.
- Ability to mentor and lead more junior team members.
- Experience in assessing scope and deadlines and working to them
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to travel (both within and outside Canada) is considered an asset
- Experience and knowledge of WCAG and ADA accessibility standards is preferred.
Additional Information
We are currently in a work from home model during COVID-19, but when we do return to the office we’re located at 55 St. Clair Ave West, this office is steps away from St. Clair station and is easily accessible by bike, TTC and car. Occupying 7 floors, with over 700 employees, it is the largest office at IBI Group. The floors are open concept and represent our collaborative approach to projects.
