Job description: Our client is building a fairer financial system by unlocking API access to payroll systems, and is in need of top Backend Engineers to join their Engineering Team.

78% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and more than half have a poor credit score or no score at all. Without access to affordable financial products, they resort to predatory products like payday loans, high-interest rate credit cards, and overdraft fees to make ends meet. After the short-term relief, these predatory products ultimately push people further into deeper cycles of debt.
They are building a fairer financial system by unlocking API access to payroll systems. Most people’s money can be traced back to a payroll system (e.g. ADP, Paychex, Gusto, etc). This makes payroll systems incredibly powerful because they 1) harbor valuable income and employment data and 2) sit at the top of the financial stack, with the controls that determine where your paycheck goes and how it gets split up before anyone else has a say.

Role:
Collaborate and work closely with other engineers to build out core platform that integrates with thousands of third-party payroll systems
Build new software tools and technology to reduce the effort and increase efficiency to integrate with a larger number of third-party systems
Implement observability for your coding processes and manage, maintain, and optimize over time
Help with new improvements and implementations for the platform overtime with Engineering Managers and Product Managers
Requirements:
2+ years of experience building and scaling Backend Software Systems
Proficiency in multiple programming languages, but a strong understanding of Python is preferred
Familiarity with developing systems in AWS or similar cloud systems
FinTech, Payments, or API experience is a plus, but not required
Expected salary: $165000 per year
