We are seeking Immunizers to join our Region of Peel Team and continue to make impactful differences within the Region of Peel’s community and people’s lives!
What you will do:
- Performs all duties under the direction of the Director of CD, PHE/or Designate, and in accordance with the Regional policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct
- Works in collaboration and consultation with, and accepts delegated responsibilities from, the Public Heath Nurses (PHN)
- Practice independently in complex, fast-paced environments with supports from PHN
- Applies the regulated health professionals process to assess health and immunization history and eligibility of clients using information from several sources to determine whether the client is to be immunized
- Vaccinate clients based on the Provincial framework for approved groups
- Knowledge of injection process via intramuscular or subcutaneous routes
- Documents vaccines and treatments in relevant databases according to program practices
- Assist with clients and clinic flow to ensure efficient and effective care in a confidential atmosphere
- Monitor clients for adverse reactions and provide care as required in the clinic environment in accordance with program policies and procedures
- Ability to travel across the Region of Peel to different clinic locations
- Understands vaccine cold chain and assist with the maintenance of vaccines during immunization clinics using a solid working knowledge of Provincial Program Standards and program policies and procedures related to vaccine storage and handling
- Prepare clinic facilities and equipment
What we require:
- Enrolled in a recoginzed 3rd or 4th year nursing program or recognized pharmacy health care professional program and authorized in the province of Ontario to Immunize (based on completion and accredited Immunization course)
- Current CPR certification, Level C or higher
- Experience providing intramuscular, subcutaneous injections, and/or vaccines to clients of all ages including infants, toddlers, children, youth, adults, and seniors.
- Experience in conducting client assessments
- Excellent clinical and organizational skills
- Proficient communication skills (both verbal and written, phone); ability to write in a concise, factual, and accurate manner
- Organizational, problem solving, and administrative skills are essential
- Ability to work in a complex environment and possess quick decision-making skills
- Ability to assess immunization history and eligibility of clients independently
Clinic Location: Clinics will be in Mississauga and Brampton and Caledon. You will be asked to travel to different clinic sites depending on the needs.
Clinic Shifts Times: 7 am – 3 pm, 10 am – 6 pm, 12:30 pm – 8:30 pm and 3 pm -11 pm and the clinics operate 7 days/week. Shift times are subject to change based on operational needs.
Full Time hours: 35 hours a week and you will be required to work every other weekend. Days off may not be two (2) consecutive days.
Part Time hours: We would require your commitment to work two (2), 8-hour shifts which will include weekends. Schedules would be based on availability provided.
