Long Island Select Healthcare Inc. (LISH) is a comprehensive network of community health centers under a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) model. We provide Article 16 and 28 clinic services at 8 locations across Suffolk County, New York.

LISH is currently searching for an experienced Full Time Medical Receptionist for our Riverhead location. We are seeking a positive, energetic, detail oriented person to manage a variety of responsibilities for this busy health clinic. Applicant must be able to work Full-Time, M-F. Bilingual in English/Spanish Strongly preferred.

General duties include:

  • Greets and Checks In/Checks Out patients.
  • Routine patient and family/aide interaction.
  • Processes new patient registration forms, HIPAA, privacy notice, and demographic change forms.
  • Communicates Sliding Scale policy to patients, requests documentation, and sets up new patients on Sliding Scale
  • Manage high-volume amount of inbound and outbound calls in a timely manner.
  • Answers phone promptly; in a polite and professional manner
  • Documents all incoming & outgoing phone calls within the EMR
  • Meet or exceed Quality Assurance Requirements and other key performance metrics.
  • Schedules appointments for patients:
  • Obtains & Enters accurate demographic information into the EMR
  • Identifies appropriate insurance as needed and re-verifies accordingly
  • Schedules appointments correctly, clearly documenting the reason for the appointment
  • Reviews appointment details with caller prior to hanging up
  • Updates patient registration/demographic info with new/terminated insurance policies, copay information
  • Makes reminder phone calls as requested
  • Reschedules appointments when necessary
  • Acts as liaison between patient and Health Center Staff
  • Directs calls to other departments/individuals when needed
  • Resolves problems and fulfills requests by clarifying desired information; researches and explores alternative solutions; implements solutions; escalates unresolved problems.
  • Understands when to escalate calls to management

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years medical office experience, preferably in a fast paced physician practice/clinic is required for this position.
  • Scheduling Software and EMR experience (eClinicalWorks desirable)
  • Bilingual (Fluent) in English and Spanish is strongly preferred
  • Customer friendly attitude
  • Ability and Means to travel between sites
  • High school diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSE) required; College degree preferred
