Job Description:
Bring your knowledge and skills in SAP user access administration, across multiple SAP systems and modules, to our SAP Technical Solution Services unit, in this permanent, full-time position with the City of Toronto as a Corporate Application Technical Lead (SAP User Access Specialist).
Reporting to the SAP User Access Services Team Lead within the SAP Technical Solution Services unit of the SAP Service Centre (a certified SAP Customer Centre of Expertise), you will be responsible for SAP access and authorization administration across an SAP landscape consisting of SAP ERP Central Component, S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, SAP SuccessFactors, Business Warehouse, Business Intelligence, SAP Analytics Cloud, Fiori, Enterprise Portal, and Solution Manager products used by 30,000+ staff to support the business processes for Finance, Financial Planning, Payroll, People & Equity, Facilities, Real Estate, and Parks, Forestry and Recreation.
You will lead project teams as well as provide senior technical consulting and analysis, development, testing, quality assurance and project planning expertise to deliver and sustain critical enterprise business applications and information in the area of SAP access and authorization administration.
Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities as a Corporate Application Technical Lead (SAP User Access Specialist) will be varied. Specifically, you will:
- Direct business and technical inter-divisional staff and professional services to deliver and sustain complex, critical enterprise SAP business applications user administration throughout the application life-cycle and report progress to the supervisor, stakeholders and team members and ensure successful delivery of solutions adhering to project management methodology.
- Direct the day to day work output of staff and resources including the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work tasks to ensure a continuing and consistent service by sustaining complex, critical enterprise SAP business applications and information.
- Negotiate amongst divisional business and technical stakeholders with multiple points of view to drive consensus for corporate-wide SAP user administration solution designs.
- Bring together multiple stakeholders from across all divisions and provide expert advice within the context of standards, procedures, and best practices related to SAP user access administration for the entire SAP landscape.
- Determine project requirements; analyze and recommend feasible options; design, build, test and implement enterprise SAP user access administration information structures and applications; and, sustain SAP user access administration to meet critical City-wide and divisional business objectives in the provision of scalable SAP enterprise solutions.
- Apply technical expertise to recommend, develop and maintain corporate SAP user access administration policies, procedures and standards to ensure the integrity of SAP enterprise information/applications and that effective corporate standards and internal processing controls (audit controls) are maintained.
- Apply technical expertise to ensure that SAP user access, privacy and quality assurance requirements are implemented in a manner that delivers business requirements and is consistent with MFIPPA and other legislation, thereby ensuring the integrity of complex SAP enterprise information and applications.
- Apply project management expertise to lead and/or provide input to project management and procurement processes, including the evaluation and recommendation of complex technical solutions and professional services.
- On a project basis, provide direction and assign work to non-IT positions, e.g., divisional unit staff (management & bargaining-unit).
- Apply technical expertise to develop and/or provide input to procurement and project management documentation, e.g., business cases, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, Sole Sources, statements of work, service level agreements, project charters, project plans, status reports, issue logs, change orders, resource plans, budgets, migration plans, contingency plans and risk assessments.
- Communicate effectively, e.g., leading and facilitating meetings, preparing and delivering presentations and reports, with audiences including business/project managers, project team members and other orders of government and external parties.
- Apply a strong understanding of information and technology industry and City priorities over both the short and longer term to advise, develop and sustain user access administration with respect to the City’s SAP infrastructures, methodologies, tools and techniques, and ensure conformance and adherence in daily practice among business and technical teams.
- Analyze and recommend changes to current SAP business practices, business and information processes, data flows, performance measures, information delivery and knowledge utilization toward more efficiently managed and coherently integrated SAP user access administration environments for all divisions in the City.
- Apply technical expertise to perform analysis, development and testing for changes to existing complex and critical SAP user access procedures.
- Provide on-going sustainment support to current SAP implementations and users.
Key Qualifications:
Your application for the role of Corporate Application Technical Lead (SAP User Access Specialist) should describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- Considerable experience with SAP user and authorization administration across multiple SAP systems and modules (Solution Manager, Enterprise Central Components (HR, FI, MM, PM, RE), S/4HANA, Business Warehouse, Business Intelligence, SAP Analytics Cloud, Fiori, Enterprise Portal, Ariba, and SuccessFactors).
- Experience analyzing SAP authorization and user access issues in order to recommend immediate resolutions and the most effective approach to their implementation.
- Experience with SAP implementations – full system, upgrades or module specific.
- Demonstrated skills in using project management tools (Activate methodology preferred), applying methods and standards, estimating and tracking time and efforts and demonstrated track records in successfully completing projects according to an established methodology.
You must also have:
- Knowledge of user administration and authorization concepts for SAP cloud solutions
- Ability to lead projects or teams, including demonstrated skills in using project management tools (Activate methodology preferred), applying methods and standards, estimating and tracking time and efforts, allocating and deploying resources, with proven track records in successfully completing projects according to an established methodology.
- Ability to prepare, organize and present business cases, proposals, solutions and budgets or similar formal documents and statements to various audiences, including stakeholders, clients and the public.
- Efficiency and effectiveness in teamwork, facilitation, communications, conflict resolution, problem solving, incident management and team leadership in projects, assignments and service engagements.
- Excellent business acumen to establish and maintain an effective consulting relationship with clients and vendors, with a strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to work flexible hours including days, afternoons, nights and weekends, as required.
