Job title: Assistant Director of Nursing

Job description: Assists DON as a resource to staff as needed. In the absence of the DON the ADON will assume the role of DON.
Functions as the home’s IPAC lead.
Assists the DON in acting as a liaison between nursing and other departments in the home.
Assists the Director of Nursing in developing, implementing and changing the routines and assignments in the nursing department.
Assists the Director of Nursing in the supervision, education, and evaluation of all nursing staff in the home.
Assists the Director of Nursing in the hiring, orientation, training, evaluation of all Registered Staff and nursing staff of the home
Assists the management team (DON, LEC and NCM) in the completion and presentation of performance appraisals to all staff in all departments in the home
Supports other senior managers in the investigation and discipline of all employees in the home.
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, will plan and schedule nursing services in the home. Will assist with vacation planning and posting of nursing schedules Reviews documentation to ensure the maintenance of accurate and complete records of nursing observations in compliance with legislative requirements, the College of Nurses and the policies of the Home.
Assists in the completion of MDS RAI coding under the direction and supervision of the home’s RAI Coordinator
Utilizes the home’s software program to create, develop and modify resident care plans, summaries and assessments in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Is able to act as an educator to train appropriate staff in the use of the home’s software program.
Completes audits/inventories as requested. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement Program and Accreditation Program.
Assists the Director of Nursing to gather monthly data that is utilized for strategic planning and quality improvement projects in the home. (Falls, wounds, restraints, psychotropic drug use and ER visits)
Maintains a current working knowledge of the RUGs III Classification process under the MOHLTC.
Participates as a lead member of the P.I.E.C.E.S Resource team for the home. This person will assist in identifying and recommending interventions to manage cognitive deficits and behavioral challenges in collaboration with the resident, family, Psychogeriatric Outreach Team, staff and physicians as appropriate. Attend collaborative care meetings with the Director of Nursing.
Will be available to attend committee meetings in the absence of the Director of Nursing as necessary.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an acceptable vulnerable sector criminal check and proof of 2 step Tb testing within the past 6 months.
Current license to practise and certificate of competence as a Registered Nurse.
COVID testing will be required within 7 days of start date and will be required to be completed as directed by the public health unit.
Experience and training in approved IPAC Guidelines an asset.
Expected salary: $35 – 47 per hour
