These programs are offered to adolescents, adults, pregnant women and mothers with young children, and substance abusers with mental health problems. Portage’s treatment approach is based on the therapeutic community in its many centers in Atlantic Canada, Québec, and Ontario.
The night assistant counselor ensures the protection of clients in the center’s program. He responds to certain needs when the situation requires it. Writes a follow-up report and points out anomalies to those in charge. Intervenes in emergency situations as part of his/her duties. Conducts rounds of the organization’s property and assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports and supervises the residents under his responsibility
- Ensures the maintenance of order, discipline and safety of users
- Validates the quality of care given according to the organization’s policies and procedures
- Conducts monitoring rounds to ensure regular controls
- Identifies and reports any abnormality to the person in charge
- Takes action according to the institution’s regulations to prevent any danger
- Lends assistance to agitated users and other similar situations
- Attend to the general needs of the users
- See to the general maintenance of the premises
- Applies the facility’s rules regarding the internal and external circulation of staff, visitors, clients and suppliers
- Applies preventive measures and verifies the proper functioning of the protection systems and collaborates with the various municipal services
- Respects the organization’s policies and procedures for the quality of care provided and the safety and well-being of users
- Participates in the orientation and training of new staff
- Performs all other related duties
DESIRED PROFILE
- Completed high school diploma
- Two (2) years of experience in customer service, customer support, or other experience deemed relevant
- Sense of observation
- Good self-control
- Courtesy

- Sense of responsibility and fulfillment of one’s responsibilities

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- 37.5 hours per week
- Job Type: Full Time, Temporary
- Salary: $15.11 per hour
- Work schedule : 11pm to 7 am
