Job description: The Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Social Worker 2 to work in the Psychosis Recovery and Treatment, Floor 8 (formerly IRU unit 1-4). As a member of the interprofessional IRU team, you will work to provide assessment and treatment for long-term clients within the Complex Care and Recovery Program who are working towards discharge. Reporting to the Manager of the IRU, you will be expected to contribute to program development, continuous quality improvement initiatives, and to the research and educational activities of the service. You will be a resource person on the team for discharge planning issues including: housing resources, income, family involvement in care plan, assessment, education and support. Candidates must be capable of providing supervision to Masters of Social Work students, collaborating with faculties of social work on special projects related to the development of the social work field and also teaching other professionals. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, promotes trauma informed care and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at the Queen Street Site.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a Masters of Social Work degree and be a certified member, in good standing, with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, along with three years’ post graduate experience working in a mental health setting. You are required to possess: a strong knowledge of, and ability to apply principles of crisis intervention; knowledge of recovery; discharge planning and an understanding of social work interventions as appropriate for the long-term clients with severe and persistent mental illness and dually diagnosed clients. You have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behaviour and possess effective assessment, decision-making and problem solving skills. The ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic interprofessional environment is essential. You possess demonstrated knowledge and experience in assessment, concurrent disorders and rehabilitation. In addition, you possess fundamental knowledge of current Best Practices for clients with schizophrenia, dually diagnosed clients, clients with dementia and acquired brain injuries. You also possess superior communication and interpersonal skills and are able to collaborate effectively with stakeholders within and outside CAMH. You can demonstrate literacy in computer applications used by CAMH. Demonstrated ability to work with clients of diverse backgrounds is necessary. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
Please note: This full-time, permanent position is part of the OPSEU bargaining unit.
Salary Range: $35.42 – $47.73 per hour
