Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the Direction of the Homes Pandemic Management Team, will be responsible to perform both PCR and Bio Antigen Tests, along with completing the manual and electronic administrative needs accompanying the test. All work will be performed in adherence to Ministry Directives and the Home Infection and Prevention Control Policies.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: * Safely and competently administers nasopharyngeal, throat and nasal Covid -19 PCR Tests and Rapid Bio Antigen tests as directed by the Ministry of Long Term Care to all staff, students and visitors. Training will be provided on site.
- Completes required documentation and tracking that accompanies testing.
- Performs testing in a variety of settings, i.e. Clinical setting, outdoors, within parked cars, etc.
- Provides health promotion and infection prevention and control education as required.
- Assists with vaccine clinics as required and within scope of practice.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- Enrolled at a college or university in the registered practical nursing or registered nursing program in the second year of the program; or
- Healthcare professional such as nurse (current registration not required), a pharmacist, lab technician, or occupational therapist, etc.
- Confident in performing Nasal Pharyngeal/Throat/Nasal Swabs
- Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control inclusive of PPE donning and doffing
Skills/Abilities:
- Experience working with diverse groups of people
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Able to work extended and flexible hours
- Ability to enter data and monitor electronic tracking
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Assets:
- Experience in caring for the elderly
- Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must be willing to work shifts, including holidays and weekends.
- Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies.
Expected salary: $25 per hour
