Job description: The Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently seeking a full-time, temporary Social Worker 2, to work collaboratively in the Sexual Behaviour Clinic. Reporting to the Manager, you will collaborate with the other clinical and research staff in a grant study elated to the secondary prevention of child sexual abuse, involving service provision, and related evaluation, to non-justice involved individuals with a sexual interest in children. in the grant.

You will be responsible for providing anonymous support to individuals via telephone or chat modalities. This will require being able to evaluate a caller’s needs, assessing risks, assisting in single sessions and providing necessary resources to individuals engaged with the helpline. You will also be responsible for the provision of in-person traditional clinical service to non-justice involved individuals with a sexual interest in children. You will engage in the assessment of clinical, risk, and protective factors via semi-structured interviews using established tools (i.e. Stable-2007, VRS-SO).

Candidates should possess knowledge of community resources as it relates to this client population, as well as good clinical judgement and risk assessment skills with regards to child welfare and suicide/safety concerns. You will be expected to contribute to program development and to the research and clinical activities of the study. The incumbent will provide supervision to Masters of Social Work students, who will also support the work of the study activities. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and effective communication as well as complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have a Master of Social Work and be a member, in good standing, with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), with a combination of three (3) years’ of post-graduate psychotherapy experience working in a mental health/addiction setting. The candidate must be able to provide evidence of the OCSWSSW Checklist for competence to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy. Candidates must have experience utilizing [CBT/DBT/CPT, etc.], and preference will be given to those who hold certificates/certification. DBT is an asset. The candidate must also have received 3 years of entry-to-practice clinical supervision, plus 2-3 years (or 2000-3000 hours) of supervised experience in performing the controlled act of psychotherapy for the interventions required of the role. Social Work incumbents requiring further clinical supervision to be able to perform controlled act of psychotherapy must have this formal relationship pre-arranged by the clinical program, as a condition of hire, based on capacity. The successful candidate must be eligible for an adjunct faculty appointment with faculties of Social Work that have affiliation agreements with CAMH. Preference will be given to those who possess a strong knowledge of and ability to apply (in assessment and treatment) principles of risk management and crisis intervention and who have demonstrated knowledge of issues pertaining to sexual offending and pedophilia. Experience in at least one of the following: child development, violence prevention, trauma, healthy sexuality, or adult education. Experience in providing cognitive behavioural therapy to individuals in a group setting is an asset. You have the demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of paraphilias and are comfortable and confident speaking about sexuality, sexual development, and sexual abuse. The successful candidate will also have a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to multi-task as needed, while also contributing to data management/records systems in accordance with hospital guidelines. Experience using electronic platforms for communication (i.e. chat and text), along with excellent communication and writing skills is essential. Demonstrated ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds is necessary. Above all, you possess a commitment to sexual abuse prevention and recognize that reaching individuals with a sexual interest in children – confidentially – is an important prevention strategy. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Please note: This full time, temporary position ending on March 31, 2022 is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

Salary Range: $35.42 per hour to $47.73 per hour
