nSnake : Classic Snake Game In your Terminal

Do you know Snake Game ? this game was popular in old Nokia handsets back in early 2000’s and this game still an addictive game. Today the snake game is replaced by other games such as Subway Surfer, Temple Run, and many game that very addictive. There are some Snake Games on Android, iOS, and Web, but this one is on your Terminal.

nSnake : Snake game in your Linux Terminal

nSnake is a clone of the Classic Snake game that we all used to play on our old cellphones, but this version is for Linux terminal developed by Alexandre Dantas with ncurses and with C++ Programming Language. nSnake is available almost on all Linux Distribution. It has many settings and possible game modes and a gui-like interface on the console.

To play nSnake just use your arrow keys to move your snake, to pause the game press P and press Q to quit the game. You can choose starting speed for your game and select game mode for border on or off.

For Ubuntu or Linux Mint you can to install nSnake by using the following command :

$ sudo apt-get install nsnake

For other distribution you can download it from Alexander Dantas Github Page or by this following command :

$ git clone git://github.com/alexdantas/nsnake

nSnake depend on package libncurses5-dev, so before installing you should install libncurses5-dev, to install type this following command :


# apt-get install libncurses5-dev


# yum install ncurses-devel

After installing dependency for nSnake, Extract nSnake archive then change directory to nSnake Directory, then Type this following command to install/build your nSnake :

$ make

$ make install

Once installed, just run nSnake using this following command :

$ nsnake

The game will start automatically on your terminal which may look like the following screen.
