There are many Twitter client for Linux in the past, like Birdie, Turpical, and Polly, but most of them are not seeing any development. Linux Native Twitter client are on extinction, but there is always hope for Twitter enthusiast, that hope is Corebird, Corebird is a twitter client application that still in active development for Linux.
Corebird is one of the native twitter desktop client for twitter that quite understandable. Corebird using GTK+ which make it has a nice graphical user interface. Corebird has a quick menu that makes switching between multiple accounts more easier. The compose box now highlight any @mentions, #hashtags and links automatically when you type it.
If you want to install, Corebird is available to all Linux distribution using its source code, you can download it here :
But for Ubuntu and other distribution that based on Ubuntu, there is an unofficial PPA available that can be use to install Corebird
Install Corebird on Ubuntu via PPA
To install Corebird, open up your terminal, then type these commands :
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/corebird sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install corebird
Note : This PPA won’t work as there is a dependency on gtk+3 (>=3.11.2).
The conclusion is Twitter Client for Linux is not DEAD, there is still twitter client like Corebird out there.
